How to Participate:

What: Purple lights will be displayed at the Monroe County Justice Center and Courthouse to honor the “silent victims” of domestic violence.
Why: Over half of all domestic violence cases go unreported to the police. We hope to give victims the courage to speak out.
What: Purple ribbons displayed around the Madisonville Courthouse serve as a reminder that domestic violence has no place in our community.
Why: Monroe County has a free, federally funded Victim Serving Agency to support those in need. Help spread awareness by requesting a free purple bow to display at your home or business.
Request a Bow: Text or call 423-519-1232, or email advocatemonroe@gmail.com.
What: Paint a fingernail purple in October to show support for ending domestic violence.
How: Post photos of your purple nails on our Facebook page (@MonroeSTOPe) with the hashtag #PutTheNailinIt.
Why: Silence allows domestic violence to thrive. Taking this vow opens critical dialogue about domestic violence and shows support for survivors.
Take the Vow: “I vow to help end domestic violence and the silence surrounding it by painting my fingernail purple.”

Join us on Friday, August 2 at 12:15 p.m as we gather with the Monroe County Health Department to celebrate the successful completion of the facility’s new walking path and pollinator garden. This project is one of many Monroe County Health Council CARES Grant initiatives that have positively transformed our communities in the past year.
We invite everyone to be a part of this special occasion. This event will provide an opportunity to recognize the hard work and dedication of all those involved in executing these projects, including our talented team, community leaders, and the Tennessee Department of Health, which provided the necessary funding.

Too often, unused prescription drugs find their way into the wrong hands. That's dangerous and often tragic. On Saturday, April 27th, the PWC, in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and local law enforcement, will provide the public the opportunity to prevent pill abuse and theft by ridding their homes of potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs. We will also have sharps containers for sharp disposal but space is limited for these items. Bring your pills for disposal. The service is free and anonymous, no questions asked. Bring your unused or expired medications for safe & proper disposal to the following drive-thru locations:
Madisonville Carnival at the Park, Madisonville 12:00-4:00pm
Little Drug, Sweetwater 10:00-2:00pm
Ramp Festival, Tellico Plains Community Center 10:00-2:00pm
Kahite Clubhouse, Vonore 10:00-2:00pm

Join CASA, Monroe STOPe, and the Monroe County Health Council for the free In Her Shoes training training at the Justice Center next week!
This unique training experience promotes a better understanding of the challenges faced when someone attempts to leave an abusive relationship.
